Jena Bioscience

Jena Bioscience a spin-off from Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund, Germany was founded in 1998 by scientists who wanted to share their proven utilities and experience with the life science community. The company is located in the high-tech valley of the traditional university town of Jena, Germany.

Over the years, Jena Bioscience has developed from a local start-up company into an established reagent provider with a global distribution network in more than 40 countries. We sell nearly 1600 products to the life science and diagnostic markets. The company is growing at a two-digit rate per year.

Of Jena Bioscience's products are particularly worth mentioning their range for macromolecular crystallography. Its crystal screening kits and buffers have been much researched and represent only the most successful buffers that have yielded protein crystals suitable for X-ray diffraction. It heavy atom derivative kits along with the crystallization plates, covers slides, tape and grease add to this product range.

Their proprietary protein expression system LEXSY is unique in several ways. It combines the simplicity of bacterial expression systems with the potential of eukaryotic protein expression/folding/modification system.
